Adobe is introducing new AI video tools, competing with OpenAI and Meta.

The public rollout of Adobe's Firefly Video Model-generative AI tool designed to create video from text prompts-cleverly puts the company ahead of its curve by situating itself alongside similar offerings and tools by OpenAI and Meta in the burgeoning landscape of film and television production around generative AI technologies.

The Firefly Video Model aims to make video editing better as it allows creators to produce footage that will smoothly integrate with traditional clips. Adobe gives a feature on fine-grain control over video elements, which include elements like camera position and motion important in professional video editing

The tool is accessible for users who have registered for its waiting list however no word on general release date has been given.

Apart from creating videos, it will add new capabilities to Adobe's Premiere Pro editing software. For instance, Generative Extend helps editors fill gaps in footage or make transitions smoother by producing new frames based on existing clips. It aims to boost video-making efficiency by streamlining the workflow in video for Adobe. All the content created would be valid for commercial use since the dataset used to train the model falls within the rights that Adobe can use. This tackles criticism about copyright and ownership of AI-generated media in the future.
